How long does a web site take to build?

It depends. If you want a site that is simple and you already have content to put on it, it doesn't take long at all, a couple of weeks at most. If you want our content development and a lot of custom programming, custom photography or custom illustration it will take around 3 months. We tend to do more of the custom type of work, which takes longer. If you want it to not take as long but still have a lot of special parameters, we can hire trusted contractors to assist and it will simply cost more. Generally the biggest time gobblers come with content development and programming/integration with other software. The other big one is having groups (a board or committee) sign off and approve content. So if you want something quickly, you do need to be aware of that and plan for it. We will do all we can to make sure you are aware of the time parameters involved.

 

Why are you named Red Toad Media?

Like Mr Toad of Toad Hall in the beloved children's classic, The Wind in the Willows, the owner tends to hurl herself joyfully at the latest technology. So much so that she earned the nickname "Toad" and it became her battle cry. Red makes you stop, take notice. And Media, because we do all sorts of design work in many diferent media, from print to interactive design.

 

Do you take payments?

Yes. Generally we divide the total into two or more payments, depending on the balance. Payments are made as milestones are achieved.

Do you subcontract for larger advertising agencies and design firms, other interactive or multimedia shops?

Yes, if we have time. Shoot us an email to query for availability.


Will I be on the front page of Google?

We build our sites thinking about SEO, keywords are built into the code and content. They're built semantically. That is worth a lot and is not something every developer does. We also think a lot about in-bound marketing and social media when we build a site. And now we offer Internet Strategy services, which means search engine optimization (SEO) as well as SEM, which means Search Engine Marketing. There is a full time person now who does nothing else, call us at 502-509-6538 for a free consultation. We'll tell you now though, never trust anyone who claims they can guarantee you top placement. They should be able to show you past results.

 

Do you do sites with an administration system so we can update it ourselves?

Yes. We customize the admin for you and your needs, your technology level and your staff. We want things to be very usable. We build using a content management system called MODx. To schedule a walk-through demo and learn more, contact us.


Is it just one person working and doing all of this?

There are two of us now and then we also have helper elves that assist on an as-needed basis. The team of helper elves includes seasoned professionals that we have dealt with for years.
